My critiquing experiences

I have provided detailed and high-level critique on novels as well as coaching on how to improve writing skills for millions of words for over 300 writers in the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, the Mideast, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

I have gained a reputation on the Internet as an expert on how to critique fiction. Try searching on Google or Yahoo for “How to Critique Fiction” (with the quotes) or “critique fiction” (with the quotes). You will see my article at the top or near the top of every search. Or you can go directly to www.crayne.com/howcrit.html and see my article "How to Critique Fiction" for yourself.

Writing classes in colleges and adult education programs around the United States - and writing groups in many countries - have used my article to help writers learn how to critique.

  • I am an honest critic and have been active on the Internet since 1995 at my web site at www.crayne.com.

  • I am a member of SPAWN, Small Publishers, Artists, and Writers Network at spawn.org/.

  • I am the President of the SFNovelist critique group at www.sfnovelist.com, which I started in 1997.

  • I am a past-President of the Southern California Writers Association at www.ocwriter.com, a group of over 100 writers.

  • I am a member of the Laguana Woods Writers Club.

  • I've been the judge in seven short story contests.

You can check Google or Yahoo for "Victory Crayne" (with the quotes) to see what others think of me. Notice how many links there are to my name. I'm honest - this is not one of those stupid scams.

Fiction Editor at Behler Publications

I am an editor at Behler Publications, Lake Forest, CA.

My writing experiences

I have written two novels (as yet unpublished) and over two dozen short stories, some of which have been published in newsletters. Most of my stories are available for reading at www.crayne.com/stories.htm. Nine of my short stories have won First Place and two have taken Second Place in short story contests.

I have written numerous articles on the craft of writing fiction, some of which have been translated into foreign languages for use in Europe. Most of my articles have been published in newsletters for writers' groups.

My web site at www.crayne.com has many resources for fiction writers.

In 2001, I edited an anthology of short stories by other authors, The Best of Times, which was available via Amazon until it ran out of print.

I have been a professional technical writer for over ten years, during which I have written many software manuals, policies and procedures, and Help systems for a wide variety of industries for over 20 client companies. I have written thousands of pages of business and technical material.

I'm friendly

I like to help people. One of my greatest pleasures is seeing a client writer improve his/her writing.
